NEW PLOT

After scouting the locations our team decided to scrap the entire plot we initially made alongisde the genre and began the evolution of "Check Mate". 

In our new film Check Mate our main character Alex, is playing a psychological game of chess against her soon to be murder. Every move she makes on the chess board represents her moves in her subsequent reality. As the game gets closer to the end, Alex's chess skills are exposed as the murder gets checkmate on her within only a couple of moves. As this occurs Alex is shown running into a dead end representing her being out of moves. 


Our new plot has a general theme that every move that you make in life matters. This is displayed through the plays on the board and the moves in her real life.

  1.  How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?  My product challenges conventions due to the genre alone. Psychological thrillers  (which is the genre of my product) challenges the conventional narrative due to it subverting the audiences expectations. It contains misdirections and plots twists which create a sense of uncertainty and ambiguity.  While most genres are clear with traditional conventions such as humor, to make you laugh. And Horror to make you scared, my product explores complex psychological themes conveyed through trauma and memory loss.
