Editing: Audio

As seen in the last blog, I was able to apply the same preset applied to the image throughout the whole film to match colors of the takes.

Now it was time to add the music. We had already established what song we were going to use during the running scene of the film and the jingle we we
re going to put int the beginning but we still had a lot of grey areas full of dry silence. Our director came up with the notion to accentuate the more emotional scenes in the film introduction by using unique audio cues when it crescendos, but even so, there was still something missing. When the diegetic title appeared, there was a brief moment of silence which had to be filled.

The beginning was supposed to sound like a production set, but as we searched for audios, we couldn't find any that fit our idea. Therefore we made the decision to record our own sounds. In order to insert it in the first empty area at the beginning, I recorded a voice memo of the director and cinematographer discussing the movie. This best suited the gap due to the director referencing  to the screenplay before it displayed on the desk.

The Voice Memo:

I was able to make this audio fade and naturally transition to the sitcom audio. This audio/jingle was made by one of our cast members.

In order to fit the nature of the sitcom and cover the audio gaps between lines, we then employed various laugh tracks throughout the entire show.
I completed the film once I had finished this.

This experience taught me how the dramatic, frightened feeling we sought to convey in our foundation portfolio can be pushed using audio.
The audio was what gave our movie the finishing touches and advanced the story.
