Day 1 - BrainStorming
Today me and my group mates assembled together to start thinking of ideas to base our introduction film on. One of the films that continuously popped up was the Netflix series "Black Mirror". In this series the main characters are supposably in a shared universe where the main character is trapped in a false reality controlled by Netflix viewers. The entire series subsequently base its plot on the fall of humanity and morality at the hands of some form of technological advancement.
This correlates to our film due to the concept of being trapped in a shared universe is reused through out our film. Our character goes through the same situation but rather than being controlled by Netflix he is going to be trapped in a 90's sitcom. The theme of falling short to humanity and morality at the hands of some form of technological advancement is continued. The only major addition to it is a form of deception due to the main character being kidnapped into the space he is in. Making the position of the character forced by a more realistic cause brings realism into the film. Using realism allows the audience to be capable of build a deeper understanding of the film and feel compassion towards the main character situation due to it being understandable. Getting kidnapped and forced to be on a show sounds like something that could occur in Hollywood which gives the film excitement but that fact that it can even happen in real life gives in a sense of seriousness.
With the overall concept and theme of our film completed our team is going to continue brainstorming to make the production of it surreal.
